Hypnotherapy is an application of hypnosis for therapeutic benefits. It can be used in areas such as medicine, sports, and for the development of a person’s well-being. Hypnosis has been accepted as a valid therapeutic technique by the British Medical Association since 1955. Conventional medicine is more aware of the connection between body and mind and to achieve a sense of well-being, harmony must be maintained in both. It is a very safe form of therapy that can be used to treat and alleviate a wide range of ailments and problems to increase ones own personal empowerment.

When a person is hypnotised they become physically relaxed and their brain waves enter the alpha state. This allows the hypnotist to by-pass resistance from the conscious mind and make positive suggestions which will help the individual release unhelpful beliefs, values, and emotional or behavioural patterns and find within themselves their skills, strengths and abilities. The hypnotic state is a natural form of consciousness which many people experience on a daily basis. We drift in and out of trance regularly when we daydream, or perhaps when we have been so absorbed in a book or a film that it has felt as if you are actually there.

In this altered state of awareness we are more capable of rapid learning, change, intense healing and growth. With our critical faculties on hold our focus of attention is narrower and our level of awareness on a focal point is much higher than if we were awake thus allowing suggestions to go directly into the unconscious mind.
